Police in India are baffled overthe case of missing children, who bodies are later found dead. The caseis assigned to the Central Bureau of Investigation, who entrust thismatter to the care of CBI Officer, Reet Oberoi (Preity Zinta). Throughextensive investigation Reet finds that the assailant is Lajja ShankarPandey (Ashutosh Rana), a religious fanatic, undettered by theattention he has generated over the child killings, he continues toabduct children, and subsequently sacrifice them. In order to get moreinformation about Pandey and his behaviour, Reet interviews and thenseeks the help of a jailed convict, Professor Aman Varma (AkshayeKumar), and because of this unconventional approach, she runs intoproblems, not only with the jail authorities, the local police; thehome ministry; and Professor Varma himself. Things get worse when theonly child of the Home Minister is abducted by Pandey, and Reet isasked to let go of this investigation.
