Synopsis
Thestory of the movie was lifted from "When Harry Met Sally," starring MegRyan. Karan (Saif Ali Khan) is a cartoonist and a self-styled ladies'man. His daily comic, "Hum Tum," explores the battle of the sexes. On aplane from Delhi to New York, he meets Rhea (Rani Mukerji), but shedoesn't seem the to be a least bit interested in him. His feebleattempts at flirting go nowhere, but when they have a stopover inAmsterdam on their way to New York,, she agrees to spend a few hoursexploring the city with him. Karan quickly learns he has little incommon with the feisty but proper Rhea, but he won't give up. He endstheir contentious time together with an unwelcome kiss. Rhea isoutraged and storms off, but Karan insists they'll meet again. After acouple months living in New York, he spots her in the park, and shecauses a scene with his girlfriend,who is Rhea's friend, this ends inthe break-up between Karan and his current girlfriend. Now three years later, when Karan ishelping his mother plan a wedding that turns out to be Rhea's. Rhea ismarrying Sameer (Abhishek Bachchan).They bicker again, but this time,they part on good terms. Years later in Paris, Karan is visiting hisfather (Rishi Kapoor), when he runs into Rhea again. He learns fromRhea's mother (Kirron Kher) that Sameer has died in a car accident, andhe sets out to help her reclaim her positive outlook on life. Sensingthat she needs to be with a straight-laced, "boring guy", he conspireswith Rhea's mother to fix her up with his shy best friend, Mihir (JimmyShergill). Things don't go as planned, and Karan and Rhea findthemselves forced to confront their feelings for each other. Suspectingthey have ruined their relationship forever, Karan leaves Rhea, butlater realizes his mistake and tries to find her, but she hasdisappeared.
He writes his book about HumTum; essentially, the storyis his and Rhea's relationship. She comes back to him after having readthe book. They agree to renew their relationship.
